Happy Mother's Day Card

I had a lot of fun creating this card for my mother.  I can't wait to give it to her for Mother's Day.  I used  two flower stamps and embossed them with clear embossing powder on watercolor paper.  I then used three shades of pink in my Gelattos to color in the background.  (I love using gelattos!).  The stamp is from Simon Says Stamp's April card kit.

This card was fun to make.  I am also entering it into the Simon Says Stamp challenge Anything Goes.

Just a wee bit of COLOR!

FINALLY.... it hit 65 today in Minnesota.  It snowed on Monday (I got about 4 inches of snow) and by Friday it is 65 and sunny.  Gotta love this state.

Anyways, in celebration of the sun I painted my nails hot pink and made this card.  I have really been enjoying the ombre effect that I see everywhere, so I have used it a lot in my projects.

In this card I used 2 shades of pink/purple craft paint.  I blended them to create a 3rd shade.  Using a sponge, I applied the colors to a 4 x 5.25 card front.  After it dried, I used a Fiskars stamp to stamp the flowers with StazOn ink.  I finished the card off with a sentiment embossed with Zing white embossing powder, ribbon and black pearls in some of the flowers.  I adhered the card front to a black of a 4 x 5.5 card.

I am entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Vintage challenge of using color.

Thanks for dropping by!  Have a good weekend.

Enjoy the Journey....

Lately I have been making cards to replenish my stash.  I do not have a lot of masculine cards in my stash, so when I saw Simon Says Stamp's challenge for Travel/Cityscapes I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to make a masculine birthday card. And also enter it into the challenge.

I used a chevron paper from the Basic Grey Hey Boy 6x6 paper pad.  I stamped the cityscape from Tim Holtz's City Central stamp set and a sentiment from Tim Holtz new Simple Sayings stamp set.

May your day be as bright as a FLOWER

My mother loves flowers and my mother loves a certain shade of yellow.

When I saw in the Simon Says Stamp Background Challenge, I knew that I wanted to use some of my favorite background stamps to decorate a tag that had some flowers on it. However, it turned into a 6x6 canvas that has a tag and some flowers on it.  I am using this project as a gift for my mother as well as entering it into the SSS challenge.

I limited myself to using only plain scraps from my scrap container to make the flowers.  I used Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die to make the flowers.  I decorated the plain cardstock scraps with various background stamps and Distress inks to give them a pattern and texture.

For the tag, I used Tim Holtz Tag and Bookplates die.  I cut it out of a light brown cardstock and did a tone-on-tone stamping with one of my favorite background stamps, Hero Arts Classic Fabric Design cling stamp.

For the base of the canvas, I stamped Stampin Ups Hello Doily stamp in Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Ranger clear embossing powder on pastel paper.  I should have used a mixed media or watercolor paper, but was not sure what I was going to do at the time.  I then colored the entire paper with Faber-Castell gelatos in Lemon and Butterscotch and blended them with my fingers and some water.  After this dried, I adhered it to the canvas with gel medium.  I colored the sides of the canvas in the same colors.

I adhered all the elements with gel medium and Tombow glue.  Now I have a little present for my mother's desk (she is a teacher).  I hope it makes her smile.

List of background stamps I used for the flowers:
Hero Arts Classic fabric design cling stamp
Hero Arts Tiny Ink Spots woodblock stamp
Recollections faded handwriting woodblock stamp
Tim Holtz Boundless flight stamps
Tim Holtz Urban Tapestry
Tim Holtz Mixed Media set ( love these stamps!)

Happy Birthday, Simon Says Stamp Challenge

This week's challenge at Simon Says Stamp is a Happy Birthday card.  How fitting considering it is the challenge blog's birthday.  They are focusing on SSS exclusives this week, so I used my April 2013 card kit from them to create this card.  I used some thin dies that were included in my Genius platform to cut out the sentiment.  This card is a basic card that looks a little like a masculine birthday card to me, so I will save it just for that.

As always, thank you for the challenge this week, Simon Says Stamp!

Anything Goes Challenge from Simon Says Stamp

Hello, all.  Every month I send my Grandma a homemade card to make her smile.  This month I decided to go with an April Showers theme.  Of course, next month will have to be May Flowers.  However, this month's card works perfectly for Simon Says Stamp's Anything Goes Challenge.

I used Simon Says Stamp's April 2012 card kit for the stamps and paper.  (The APRIL stamp is actually a Basic Grey stamp).  I used Stampin Up ink for the raindrops and ribbon.

Happy April, Grandma:)

Easter/Spring card challenge

Today I finished another one of my Easter cards.  I also submitted this to Simon Says Stamp Challenge- Easter/Spring card.  I love the way the Bazzil paper takes to embossing with my Big Shot.  The Prima flowers gave this card a delicate finish.  I had never heat embossed on a paper doily before, so I decided to try it.  I enjoy the way it turned out.

Here is the card I made today for the Simon Says Stamp Challenge.  The challenge this week was to create a card using one of two sketches.  I chose sketch 1.  Thank you, Simon Says Stamp!  I love your challenges.

I used the Simon Says Stamp card kit from October 2012.  The decorated paper is from Fancy Pants Country Boutique 6x6 patterned paper pad.  The stamps are Simon Says Stamp Forever and Always stamp kit.

A Bit O'Green Challenge ....

For this week's challenge sponsored by Simon Says Stamp, I made this card.  The Graphic 45 peacock feather paper caught my eye today and I knew that I wanted to make a card with it.  I have really been enjoying this color combination.

Just a Note....

This weekend, I received some of my new supplies from Stampin Up and Simon Says Stamp.  I was so excited.  I decided to make a card using some of my new supplies from Stampin Up and my latest Michael's haul.

I am loving the colors of this card.  I used My Mind's Eye paper- Dolled Up paper pad and some Stampin Up card stock from the 2011-2013 In Colors.

Little about me....

Hello all,
I created this blog as a way to explore ways of sharing some of my cards, mixed media journal pages and scrapbook layouts. I love paper crafting and mixed media art.  I love combining textures, designs and colors to create something that will put a smile on the receiver's face.   I am new to the blogging world, so please let me know if you have any tips.

THANK YOU for stopping by my blog.
