A Yellow Thank You

I love the challenges that various blogs publish.  I find them a great source of inspiration.  This week, Simon Says Stamp's Monday Challenge is Not so Mellow Yellow.  They challenge us to create using the color yellow.  I rarely use yellow as a main color; however, through this challenge I have discovered that I really like yellow and I think I will be using it more often.

In preparation for this card, I raided my craft supplies for everything yellow- embellishments, papers, inks, baker's twine… you name it.  I put it all out on my table and then raided my "inbox" of recently purchased- but not yet used craft supplies.  I have been wanting to use the Hero Arts Thank You Fancy Die that I picked up at Joann's, so I decided that tonight would be the night.

I picked out a pretty yellow-orche floral printed paper from My Minds Eye Indie Chic-Nutmeg 6x6 paper pad.  For the card base and the die cuts I used Neenah Desert Storm card stock.   I cut the Thank You die five times from the Desert Storm card stock. Using Tombow Mono Multi liquid glue, I adhered them together to form a faux chipboard die cut.  I then put them on some painters' tape, smooshed VersaMark ink all over the die cut and embossed it with American Crafts Zing! embossing powder in Butter.

I scored the Neenah Desert Storm card stock into a standard A2 card base and rounded the edges using a 1/2" corner chomped. I cut a layer of Neenah Solar White card stock to 5.25"x 4" and rounded the edges with the same corner rounder.  I cut the patterned paper to 5" x 3.75" and rounded the edges.  I layered the white and patterned paper onto the card base.  I adhered the die cut Thank You using Glossy Accents.

I added a dashed line around the patterned paper layer and added some Lawn Fawn Into the Woods sequins to the card.  I just love the faux chipboard…. look at that dimension!  This is such a great trend in crafting right now.

Thank you for stopping by today.  The supplies I used are listed below.  I will be entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Not So Mellow Yellow.

  1. Great card, I love that butter yellow! The background paper is lovely too and the added bling is the perfect finishing touch. Thanks for joining us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
